My critters are all one of a kind, and are designed and sewn exclusivey by me. About 12 years ago, my daughter brought home a little stray dog and she has been my best friend and inspiration for my teddy faces. Jesse is a mixed lab and a sweet and loyal friend who has enriched my life. If you look at her cute face you will see the resemblance to my critters faces. I am always amazed that a little bit of fabric, stuffing, thread, buttons and joints become a unique individual. |

I have made critters out of many different
fabrics, denim, mohair, wool, cashmere, camel hair, linen,
upholstery fabric and faux fur. I have used cast off jeans,
blazers, blankets, bedspreads, shirts and anything else that
looks interesting. I love to experiment with natural dyes, and
often dye with beet juice, blueberries, flowers, tea, coffee
and walnuts. I sometimes dye with kool aid, and lemondades,
often combining them for unusual colors. I hand sew all the
little critters under 15 inches and the all the heads. All my
seams are sewn twice for extra strength. I usually use a
center seam head gusset on my teddy bears, and like working with worn or older
looking fabrics. I am still learning every day, and love to experiment. I make my
bears "bare", or costume them in my own unique handmade
costumes, hand knitting many. I rarely use patterns when I knit, preferring to create as I go along.
I love combining textures and colors. I hope my critters bring a smile to your face. |
